Singer-songwriter, Jeff Zemina, began performing in the northeast, where he grew up and was inexorably drawn to Los Angeles. There, he helped form post-rock band, Beware of Safety, whose half dozen albums have become highly regarded and influential in L.A.’s instrumental rock scene.

Zemina’s first solo release, The Blue Tide, contains deeply personal compositions that at times evoke Deertick’s John J. McCauley or The Tallest Man on Earth, and perhaps a version of Jack Johnson whose sunny vibes have been tempered by John Prine’s world-wise jadedness.

The album flows with a distinct sense of liminal spaces—the places and emotions we occupy while transitioning between major chapters in our lives.

The Blue Tide is a soundtrack for that late-night walk on the beach between seasons. It is a reflection on what we may have missed last summer, delivered with a wisdom that there is always plenty to look forward to next spring.
